I like to work from life - real life.
All my art is what I have experienced - the landscapes I have visited, the people I have met, the emotions and feelings I have felt.
So my work is very personal because these journeys are important to me.
As an African I prefer to do South African/African landscapes, reflecting my roots. When it isn't possible to 'stay' in a landscape, I use my own photographs as references.
I love the freedom and unexpected surprises of working in mixed media. My preference is to work loosely and intuitively, allowing the work to lead me. Forgetting 'self' is by far the best way for me to do 'good work'.
